Well Water Solutions
BETTER WELL WATER
Whether your home is nestled in the countryside or part of a suburban neighborhood, your well water supply likely originates from groundwater or surface water sources. The way you treat this water affects nearly every corner of your life at home, from the quality of the water for drinking, cooking and bathing, to the health and longevity of water-using appliances. If you’re a homeowner, you bear the responsibility for ensuring the quality of your water and managing any necessary treatments. We offer a variety of treatment solutions to effectively address your needs. First, let’s break it down into the two kinds of water use, and how we treat both.
COMMON ISSUES AND CONTAMINANTS IN WELL WATER
Without a proper water treatment system in place, your water may be susceptible to various contaminants and issues. Here are some common problems associated with well water:
Scale and Hard Water
Hard water, containing high levels of calcium and magnesium, leads to the formation of white, chalky scale on your fixtures and water-using appliances. This not only mars their appearance and reduces their efficiency but also decreases their lifespan. Hard water is a frequent issue for those with private wells.
Staining
Water-related staining can damage clothing, sinks, tubs, toilets, appliances, and even tableware. These stains—ranging from reddish-orange to blue-green, pink, or brown—are notoriously hard to remove and often necessitate premature replacement of affected items. Red or orange stains typically indicate the presence of iron, while blue-green stains suggest your water might be acidic or have a low pH, potentially harming your plumbing and home structure over time.
Tastes and Odors
Unpleasant tastes and odors can detract from the enjoyment of your water, impacting not just beverages like tea and coffee but also food prepared with water. These issues can make showering or bathing less pleasant. Common culprits include hydrogen sulfide, which produces a sulfur smell, and naturally occurring substances like decayed vegetation, which can give well water a bad taste or odor.

WELL WATER SOLUTIONS
Kinetico Water Softeners
Since most well water is hard, water softeners are often used to improve the working water in a home. Kinetico Premier Series water softeners are the perfect solution for well water, but Kinetico offers several water softener options to meet your home’s water treatment needs.
Kinetico Water Softeners use an ion-exchange technique to minimize calcium and magnesium levels, known culprits of buildup in plumbing and fixtures, along with reducing the levels of barium and radium often found in tap water.
Thoughtfully designed to greatly reduce hard water deposits & scale buildup, with a third-party certification by the WQA and an industry-leading warranty.
Ecologically-advanced non-electric technology, so there are no timers, computers or other electrical components to repair or replace, and you will still have reliable access to soft water during power outages.
All Kinetico Water Softeners regenerate on demand — that means you’ll always have soft water when you need it. Contact us today, to find the right softener for your water needs.
Drinking Water Systems
Drinking water systems are a great option when well water users want to reduce contaminants, bad tastes and odors from water. The Kinetico K5 Drinking Water Station with VOC Guard is certified to reduce more contaminants than any other comparable drinking water system. It has multiple configurations that allow you to customize the filtration for your home.
Kinetico Reverse Osmosis (RO) Drinking Water Filtration Systems
All Kinetico RO Drinking Water Systems use advanced membrane technology to effectively and efficiently remove metals, minerals, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and other contaminants and pollutants from drinking water.
Kinetico Systems are highly customizable and can accommodate a diverse range of filtration needs. From Alkaline Water Filtration to benefit your highest health goals, to UV Light Water Purification that destroys 99% of bacteria and viruses, to custom filter cartridges that add missing minerals, we can help you have more delicious, healthier water.

Sulfur Guard
Sulfur Guard filters are a simple and effective treatment for the foul-smelling “rotten egg” water. Unlike other systems that use multiple treatment stages and are expensive, cumbersome and complex to maintain, there’s not much to do with a Kinetico Sulfur Guard™ filter but install and enjoy better tasting water.
Nitrate Reduction System
Sources of excess nitrate in drinking water are typically the runoff of agricultural fertilizers or manure and leaching from septic tanks. It is more likely to be found in shallow ground water sources. Municipalities must monitor and treat as necessary to meet the US EPA regulatory limit, therefore private water supplies are normally at greater risk of nitrate contamination. Nitrate in drinking water can be treated effectively by reverse osmosis.
The Kinetico K5 Drinking Water Station uses three standard filters – one to remove chlorine, another to remove contaminants such as metals and nitrates, and one more to eliminate additional compounds that could result in foul tastes and odors. The Standard Filter Cartridges include two sediment prefilter options, the reverse osmosis membrane and a postfilter.

Calcite PH Neutralizer System
Acidic water is a common problem among well owners. Acidic water is incredibly corrosive, eating away at pipes and causing expensive and sometimes unfixable appliance damage. It can also expose your drinking water to heavy metals. Blue-green stains on copper fixtures or pipes, in tubs and sinks is a tell-tale sign that your water is acidic.
The Kinetico Calcite PH Neutralizer System features a dual-tank filter and addresses problems associated with acidic water by using calcite to raise the pH of your water to a neutral level of 7.
